1. Can you introduce yourself and talk about how you got into photography?

I'm Subhodeep Pal, a passionate enthusiast of photography, cinema, and all facets of creativity. My fascination with cinema traces back to my childhood, as I avidly absorbed every show on TV. Photography became a natural progression, serving as a bridge to understanding cinematography and immersing myself in the cinematic realm. Before long, I found myself deeply enamored with the art of capturing moments.

2. Where did you study photography?

I studied photography from Calcutta School of Contemporary Photography, a school that specialises in giving contemporary photography.

While my childhood is filled with numerous random snapshots, the very first photograph etched into my memory is a street scene—a capture of a line of individuals standing before a monument.

I use Sony A7III with Sony 24-240 lens.

Colorful, dynamic, and wide.

10. Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the 2023 European Photography Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?

Indeed, the photograph titled "Apocalypse" captures a poignant moment amidst a raging fire. Three firefighters stand amidst the chaotic backdrop, their gear bearing witness to their strenuous efforts. Amidst the mixture of sweat and hose water on their faces, they pause for a breath, briefly escaping the turmoil. In that instance, their shared glance mirrors their unwavering commitment to their mission.

For these courageous individuals, confronting fires is routine, despite the terror it evokes in others. This snapshot uncovers their unwavering dedication, shedding light on a lesser-seen aspect of their identity—the ordinary people beneath the helmets and hoses. Just like you and me.
