Hidden Arch

In the summer of 2021, I spent a month in Alaska. I was completely captivated by the nature of this region and made a lot of great shots. But even after 30 days full of trips, I could not see everything I wanted to. That's why I knew for sure that I would definitely come back here. One of my stops was Prince of Wales Island is one of the islands of the Alexander Archipelago in the Alaska Panhandle. It is the fourth-largest island in the United States and the 97th-largest island in the world. Among other things, the program of the trip included fishing from a boat. On that day, July 7 at 3:30 p.m., I managed to get this shot of Arcada Rock, a large limestone arch formation. A natural arch, natural bridge, or rock arch is a natural rock formation where an arch has formed with an opening underneath. Natural arches commonly form where inland cliffs, coastal cliffs, fins or stacks are subject to erosion from the sea, rivers or weathering. I like this shot from the angle of the arch, but it was problematic to make it. The fact is that you can only see the arch or get to it by plane and by water. I had seen photos of the arch from above before and wanted something different for myself. So this is by far my favorite photograph and I have put a lot of effort into it. The photo was taken from a very small fishing boat that floated in front of the arch over huge waves. Also another reason why it was not easy to take it, because photo was taken with medium formad camera Hasselblad which requeire tripod for most of accasions. So, photographig hand held on medium format camera on the moving fishing boat was extremely hard.I am happy with this experiment and with what happened as a result of it. A hard-to-reach natural monument, shrouded in mist, I called the hidden arch.
