Tricarico is a small town in a small Italian region, the Basilicata (also called Lucania), in which ancient traditions are still maintained. In Tricarico the Carnival is a party in which its streets are taken over by men disguised in two "teams": the bulls dressed in black with red details and the cows, dressed in white with beautiful handmade decorations: colored ribbons, necklaces and colored beads and with huge cowbells in their hands. Both of them are impersonated by men The ones chase the others, they mimic the gait and movements of the animals, including the "stud trials" of bulls on cows, generating sound and visual energy of great impact. In 2009, Tricarico and its masks became part of the FECC, the Federation of European Carnival Cities. Last carnival I had the opportunity to be there and I got into the party with my fish-eye camera. This image is one of the results obtained from this night of celebration and tradition.
