Duomo di Firenze (Florence Cathedral) is an architectural masterpiece whose design origins can be traced back to Giotto. The Gothic structure consists of a wide central nave and square bays that form a Latin cross. The exterior façade went unfinished for years until a competition was held to see who was going to create it. It now has works from famous artists and colorful marble that catches the eye. Boasting one of the largest domes in the world this architectural feat is still visited by people from around the world today.
