The picture shows a european badger. It is nocturnal and is a social, burrowing animal that sleeps during the day in one of several setts in its territorial range. A badger sett may have one or several exits. The sett of the badger family I observed near Bakonybél, Hungary has numerous exits. The main exit changes from year to year and season to season. The exit used last spring gave me the opportunity to photograph a member of the family under the starry sky as she leaves the sett for her night walk. The photo is the result of five years of observation.
