No more than 1700 Iberian Lynx are left alive on the entire planet, of which 1400 are in Spain and 12-14 of those are here on this reserve. It took me 33+ hours of waiting alone and in silence to capture these images. 11 hours a day in 2m x 1.5m wood and metal hide. After casually walking into a thicket, catching and eating a rabbit, this male Iberian Lynx headed straight to the watering hole to wash down his dinner. Captured from 5 meters away, those eyes deliver a penetrating and ominous stare especially during the golden hour in Peñalajo, Spain.
