A calm afternoon by the local lake, I noticed terns catching insects from the water's surface. Fascinated by their speed, I decided to photograph this behavior. The calm water mirrored their swift movements, creating a beautiful scene. With the sun backlighting the tern, the trees in the background appeared darker. To capture this contrast, I underexposed the image so the bird would be well-exposed against the shadows. Back home, I edited the photo in Lightroom, increasing the contrast to highlight the tern and its water trails. The final image captured the bird's beauty and speed, standing out beautifully against the dark background.
