The evening was drawing to a close, there were dark clouds overhead with rain in the distance. The rainy season was in full swing, making the grass green and lush. This pair of lions had been spending the past few days together. They were performing their mating rituals, one that can sometimes end with a swipe of a paw. This particular time the female snarled as the male reciprocated doing the same. The air was filled with drama and tension as they held this posture, both ready for the other’s sudden attack.
