The Roman theatre of Plovdiv is one of the world's best-preserved ancient Roman theatres, located in one of the oldest cities in the world Plovdiv, Bulgaria, once the ancient city of Philippopolis. The ancient theater of Plovdiv it was constructed in the 1st century AD was built during the time of the Roman emperor Marcus Ulpius Trajan (98 – 117 AD). and was discovered during archaeological excavations from 1968 to 1979 by the Plovdiv Archaeological Museum.
