My photo project on Torviscosa was created with the intention of capturing the town's essence by delving into its streets, buildings, and the unique character that defines it. Through this project, I aimed to reveal the layers of history and culture embedded in the town’s architecture, focusing on the details that tell its story and highlighting the elements that have shaped its identity over the years. Torviscosa is not just any town; it was founded during the Fascist era as an industrial center, making its history both distinctive and significant. This origin sets Torviscosa apart from other towns and provides a rich backdrop for my exploration. The town’s architectural heritage is a testament to its industrial roots, yet it also carries the marks of the passing years, showing how it has adapted and evolved while maintaining its core identity. The choice of Torviscosa as the subject of my project was driven by this complex history, which I found both compelling and worthy of deeper exploration. Through my photographs, I aimed to capture not only the visible structures and spaces of Torviscosa but also the intangible sense of place that defines the town. By focusing on the interplay between the old and the new, the industrial and the residential, I sought to create a visual narrative that reflects the town’s journey through time. The images highlight how Torviscosa’s past continues to influence its present, from the grand industrial buildings that still dominate the landscape to the subtle details in everyday life that hint at the town’s unique heritage. Ultimately, this project is about more than just documenting a place; it’s about understanding the relationship between history, architecture, and community. Torviscosa, with its rich past and resilient spirit, serves as a powerful subject for this exploration. My photographs aim to honor this town's history while acknowledging the ongoing changes that shape its present and future, offering a portrait that captures both the continuity and transformation of this remarkable place.
