Watching this spirit bear fish in the Great Bear Rainforest felt surreal, close enough to see every movement, every breath. With more lens than I needed, I leaned into the moment rather than step back. There was no distance left to create. Only presence. He moved along the riverbed, searching for salmon roe, submerged in quiet focus. Then he surfaced. In one fluid motion, he lifted his head and shook, sending water outward in a burst of energy that broke the stillness. This image holds that instant between worlds. Below, the hunt.
