In this photo, taken in front of the entrance to my garden, in my house in Abruzzo (Italy) in April 2026, I show a very young, dark-skinned gecko, no more than about 2 cm long, resting in the afternoon sun on a low wall. The purpose of this shot is to demonstrate the physical complexity and beauty of these creatures, both small and perfect, from a very close-up perspective. This helps the viewer better understand how the world of macro photography can bring them closer to the complexity of the small creatures of the natural world that frequent our daily lives, allowing them to look at them with different eyes, perhaps more aware and respectful of their vital rhythms. Please note that the subject was not manipulated or moved in any way: this photo was possible thanks to the naturally assumed defensive stillness, which allowed me to approach it without touching it, as well as a small dose of patience on both of our parts, before each calmly returning to their daily activities. Thank you, little friend!
