In Possession, I wanted to create a portrait that speaks to the raw power of the athlete before the game even begins. Rather than showing motion, collision, or the chaos of play, I focused on a quieter moment—one where strength is held, controlled, and fully present. The subject’s pose emphasizes both physical force and discipline: the raised arm, the red glove gripping the football, the tension through the shoulder, and the solid weight of the body all point to an athlete built for impact. The dark background removes distraction and allows the figure to feel almost sculptural. Every detail—the texture of the ball, the shine of the uniform, the definition in the arms, the fall of the hair—adds to the sense of intensity. I wanted the viewer to feel the power in the stillness, not just in action. There is confidence here, but also focus. The athlete is not performing for the camera as much as occupying the frame with complete command. For me, Possession is about presence. Football is often photographed through speed, aggression, and spectacle, but I was drawn to the moment just before all of that energy is released.
