By employing a strict vertical gaze, the photographer eschews the emotional proximity common to traditional street photography, opting instead for a detached, formalist critique of urban space. The frame is rigorously organized around the linear intervals of the crosswalk, which functions simultaneously as a literal transit zone and a symbolic nexus where disparate social classes briefly occupy the same physical coordinates.
