Varanasi, India. A holy man prays on the banks of the River Ganges. All day. Every day. He and I exchanged not a word, but he looked deep into my eyes, grabbed my shoulders and smiled. I can't remember a time feeling more comforted by an utter stranger. I bowed my head to try and say thank you. He gently let me go, turned out over the river, closed his eyes and inhaled long and deep as if to breathe in the sunrise. I stood there with my mouth open. I could have stayed by his side for eternity. But I took these photos instead. I wanted to take a piece of this man with me.
