Since 2001, I have been documenting the Kumbh Mela, one of the largest and most profound gathering of humanity in the world. Over the years, I have photographed the festival at its major locations-Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain-observing its many layers of faith, devotion, ritual and human experience. Spanning more than two decades, this ongoing body of work is both a visual document of Kumbh Mela and a personal journey into the enduring power of faith, belief and collective human experience. This project is an attempt to document that enduring relationship between people, faith and place, revealing the Kumbh not simply as an event, but as a living tradition that continues to shape the cultural and spiritual identity of India. I am drawn to the quiet moments that exist within the vastness-the expressions of devotion, the rituals passed through generations, the lives of ascetics and pilgrims, and the deeply personal search for meaning that brings millions to the sacred rivers.
