A Trance of Chlorophyll is a five-part photographic sequence centred on Monstera leaves. Rather than presenting the plant as a stable botanical specimen, the series moves between recognition and dissolution. Close framing, selective focus and intentional camera movement transform leaves, stems and perforations into shifting fields of colour, shadow and light. The first and final images introduce movement at the edges of the sequence. Their softened forms appear to emerge and recede, creating a sense of entry into and release from an altered state of perception. The second and fourth photographs retain greater structural clarity: individual leaves remain legible, yet their overlapping planes and openings produce spatial uncertainty. At the centre, a frontal leaf forms a symmetrical, almost architectural image. Its perforations become apertures through which light enters, while the dark central vein divides the composition like an axis. Warm amber, muted green and earthy monochrome tones replace conventional botanical colour. Across the pentaptych, the plant shifts between organism, surface, membrane and imagined space. The repetition of similar forms does not produce a fixed description; each photograph proposes a different state of attention. The title refers to an immersive mode of looking. Chlorophyll names the material basis of plant life, while trance suggests a temporary loosening of ordinary perception. The series invites the viewer to encounter the plant not as decoration or background, but as a presence whose structure, movement and interiority resist complete interpretation.
