Year 3000 flower blossom, this weather, and today

Changes I don’t get up early; it’s a problem that's bothering, so I try to spend the whole afternoon outside, get so tired, and hope to sleep earlier the next night. I call this city adventure; I take the bus or bike to a random place, mostly a park, to shoot and imagine. It’s a lonely journey and slowly becomes a documentary, being alienated. I went out both weekdays and weekends, while others were busy working and taking care of their kids. I do multiple exposures with a 645 camera; it can be on a tripod, giving me enough time to compose, while it’s not too heavy to react quickly sometimes; it’s easy to balance the emotions that photographs will give, centering between intimacy and stillness. I live in a development zone in Wuhan; everywhere are tall apartments, chain stores, bridges, roads, and elders. Chinese society has made impressive changes in a short period of time. Some old things have been demolished, but not all of them; they might hide somewhere, covered by taller things. The old memories rewind, but I’m always here. My generation does leave villages, but a bright future still hasn't come by, so it’s not about poverty or modernity; it’s far more complicated and cannot be told by a single portrait or a construction site. I do believe these days documentation should be how we feel in this period of time, internal expressions. Multiple exposure fits this circumstance; I combine different elements in different locations and at different times. It’s based on my thoughts in the moment and my hope for a better place, a childhood dreamland. It’s weird that multiple exposures as a documentary tool look too surreal, yet I did all the exposures on one negative, which created a subtle relationship. As I said, I’m always here.
