John Knox House is one of the oldest house in Edinburgh. John Knox (1514-1572) was a Reformed theologian and a leader of the Scottish Reformation. He was also the founder of the Presbyterian Church of Scotland. John Knox lived there for only a few months during the siege of Edinburgh Castle.
