Y Vinh (Y Um) was born in 1985, a M'Nông ethnic minority, living in Lak district in Dak Lak province (Central Vietnam). Y Vinh is one of 14 elephant mahout in Lak, he has been taking care of an elephant named Y Khamsen for 28 years. Y Vinh and Y Khamsen became close friends, Y Vinh bathed and fed the elephant, and in the late afternoon took the elephant to the forest to feed it leaves and sleep at night.
