Born on 02.08.1957 in Senglea, Malta, Domenic has been involved in the photojournalism sphere since his early twenties. Senior official Malta football writer / photojournalist contributor to www.uefa.com for 20 years to date – the official site of the Union of European Football Associations, Domenic’s association with UEFA spans many years, covering 15 UEFA Champions League finals to date, plus numerous UEFA Champions League matches and other UEFA official matches. Aquilina has been a photographic/journalistic contributor to various leading publications abroad, a member of A.I.P.S, Institute of Maltese Journalists, The Malta Sportswriters Association, The Malta Institute of Professional Photographers and the International Federation of Journalists. Official photographer for the Malta FA, he currently occupies the role of official photographer of the Malta Senior National Football Team. Awarded with the SWPP UK "Sport General Photographer of The Year 2011" award in London, England. June 2012 saw Avantech Malta, local distributors for Canon products in Malta, announced Domenic as the first ever Canon Ambassador Malta in recognition of his international achievements in June 2016, his UEFA Champions League capture titled “Heads I win!” won 1st Place in the “Editorial Sports” professional category in the Moscow International Foto Awards 2016. Since July 2016, Domenic has occupied the role of chief photographer/Content Editor within the Sports Photography Section of the Malta Independent, a leading Malta daily. In September of 2016, EPA - European Pressphoto Agency listed the Malta photographer as their official Malta “stringer”. Partner to IMAGO. GmbH, Germany, 1st Place and Outstanding Achievement award at the 11th edition of the International Color Awards in California, USA with a Basketball capture “Basket!” Judged as “Malta Sports Photographer of the Year” at the Malta Journalistic Awards in 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. In January of 2019 when his Lionel Messi football capture, captured during a UEFA Champions League match placed an overall 8th place in the A.I.P.S Media Awards 2019 amongst the best in global sports media and an overall European 5th ranking best
