Photographer's Profile
Denmark
Daniel Gilpin is a British fine art photographer and visual artist based in Denmark. Working almost exclusively with natural light and minimal post-production, his work explores quiet moments of introspection, vulnerability, and the timeless beauty of the human form. His images favour authenticity over perfection, creating contemplative photographs that invite viewers to pause rather than simply look. Gilpin studied at Leeds Arts University (then Jacob Kramer College) in Leeds, where he developed a multidisciplinary practice encompassing photography, painting, and drawing. His distinctive style combines an analogue sensibility with a contemporary visual language, producing work that is both understated and emotionally resonant. Despite maintaining a deliberately low public profile and avoiding social media as a promotional tool, Gilpin's work has received significant international recognition. His photographs have earned more than fifty international awards and distinctions, including honours from the Muse Photography Awards, International Photography Awards (IPA), London Photography Awards, European Photography Awards, and New York Photography Awards. His work has also been exhibited internationally, including in Barcelona and Paris. Gilpin continues to develop personal projects from his rural Danish studio, believing that the most compelling images emerge through patience, trust, and simplicity. His work remains rooted in the idea that photography is not about creating spectacle, but revealing quiet truths that might otherwise go unnoticed.
