My name is Cormac Mac Mahon, I'm based in a scenic, coastal Gaeltacht settlement called Furbo located in the Connemara region of County Galway, on the Western Coast of Ireland. My main areas of interest in photography are Landscape, Nature and Wildlife. I've an insatiable appetite to travel and explore new places, with a particular interest in Islands. I made the unconventional leap into DSLR Cameras primarily to utilise the variety of fantastic lenses to shoot video, only switching to the photography function when a major job required it alongside my video work, so in essence I had to learn on the fly. Slowly but surely I got completely hooked on photography, learning about many different styles, techniques and post processing through youtube tutorials as well as delving into books about masters of the Art-form like Ansel Adams. I've learned over my time traveling, trekking and hiking to various places to get "the shot" that focusing on a few locations and doing them justice rather than trying to chase every possible location is far more rewarding and enjoyable. At a time where we need to be contactable at all times, immersing myself in the isolated rugged beauty of these incredible and often times remote landscapes and slowing down to really take in what is around me feels like I've given much needed oxygen to my soul.
