This is a spin-off series from a project I am currently working on entitled LOST NAME. Within this project, which focuses on the fragility of existence, anonymity, and the individual voice, this series of works presents people in water as real images with solid contours, while the bodies of the people are completely blurred.I wanted to show the somewhat lonely and fleeting silhouette of the scene as a fantastic shadow picture by blurring out the real human body. The momentary silhouettes of people appearing and disappearing in puddles of water on a Madrid boulevard just before sunset are overlaid with the spirit of haiku, a Japanese form of poetry. (Haiku is a short, unrhymed poem that adheres to a specific three-line, seventeen-syllable format.) In other words, I was conscious of creating works as if I were an observer sketching the scene in front of me, while at the same time including my own feelings in the spaces between the lines and in the margins.
