Western Australia's numerous mines and tailing ponds make stunning photos when captured from above. Used by the refineries to store waste after seperating the minerals from the rock, the Bauxite tailings from the Aluminium refineries are particularly colourful. I captured this while enroute from home on the Sunshine Coast to the Pilbara in Western Australia to run our 2025 Karijini National Park photography tour. As I don't take any photos while running our photography tours, I often allow myself a little time before and/or after a tour to capture some photos for my own collection. This particular morning I flew my recently acquired DJI Mavic 4 Pro over one of my favourite tailing ponds. There wasn't a lot going on to be honest so I only captured a handful of photos. But then I found this beautiful area hiding in the corner of a pond, this was the stand out!
