Someplace / Not Here / Still There, But Not explores cycles of confinement, escape, and the shifting desire for connection. Shot in hotel rooms, city streets, and liminal spaces, the series follows a solitary figure with an obscured face, moving between interiors and exteriors that feel both restrictive and unreachable. There is a constant tension between enclosed domestic spaces and the overwhelming sprawl of the city — a disorientation between inside and outside, stillness and motion, intimacy and anonymity. Through contrasts of gesture and posture, isolation and proximity, the images reflect the quiet struggle to belong somewhere, or to someone. Through conceptual portraiture and anonymous fragments of public life, the work speaks to identity, habit, estrangement. Some figures reach outward; others retreat. Some places feel inhabited, others already changed. What remains is the trace of presence, the echo of movement — the sense that something was here, but perhaps no longer holds. Each image carries the residue of a moment passed — still there, but not as it was. (for more images see https://www.ymkollective.com/somewhere-someplace)
