A Tuscan dawn

Every year in May, I visit the Val d'Orcia in Tuscany. It's a time of year when you are nearly always guaranteed to have a misty morning or two. The panorama shows the famous Il Belvedere farmhouse amongst the rolling hills and beautiful layers of mist sitting amongst them. It sounds simple enough but it took three attempts during my visit there in May 2025 to get the right level of mist across the Val d'Orcia. The first time the location was visited, the mist was there but only a little. The second attempt saw heavy fog in front of the scene. It was impossible to be able to see anything at all. However, on the third attempt everything came together perfectly. The mist along with the beautiful colours in the sky and wispy clouds created a stunning scene that I had waited a decade to see and capture.
