Two vervet monkeys pause in a routine social inspection at sunrise. Without intending to, their tails draw two almost symmetrical arcs that frame the animals like parentheses. The low sun outlines every hair. What makes the image is not the gesture, which is entirely ordinary, but the geometry the animals produce without knowing it.
