Benoît Rondelet is an amateur photographer and an engaged witness to nature and humanity. He is passionate about the living world, yet his full commitment as a Professor of Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplant Surgeon has left him with far too little time to share this inner drive. The aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, experienced in his role as Medical Director of the CHU UCL Namur Group, opened new perspectives… His wildlife photographs therefore do more than simply capture fleeting moments; they seek to open windows onto the fragile splendour of wild places and to build a bridge towards the soul of the beings that inhabit them. For him, this calling springs from a profound conviction at the meeting point of spiritual metaphysics, moral responsibility, scientific knowledge and aesthetic sensitivity. He stands at the crossroads of these paths. His photographs remind us that the bond between humankind and Nature lies in the belief that it is not merely an ordered structure, but also the very idea of a whole that we have a duty to respect—whether we call it the Cosmos, Nature, or Creation. His socio-artistic approach is far more than a means of collecting images; it offers an intimate connection with the soul of the world and extends an invitation to a great humanist celebration.
